Exo Terra's Light Controllers are designed to easily fit into any type of terrarium. We only use electronic ballasts, which are energy efficient, stable, smaller and lighter than conventional ballasts.
The drivers can operate 2 fluorescent lights that are capable of creating a full spectrum. All units have their on/off switch and can be mounted in a display or simply placed next to or near the terrarium. The electronic light intensity controller lamp is an electronic ballast with a built-in timer and a dusk simulator. This timer can be set to 3 lighting periods: 10, 12 or 14 hours. When the day cycle begins, it takes approximately 30 minutes for the lamp to produce 100% light, simulating a natural sunrise. At the end of each day cycle, it takes approximately 30 minutes to simulate a sunset. This is less annoying for the animals and also stimulates the reproductive behavior of many reptile species. It gives the animals time to retire to their burrows. This unit for terrariums is a flexible solution; an electronic ballast, closed inside a plastic structure where there are two flexible tube holders. It can be mounted in any hidden spot near the terrarium and the sockets are easily mountable to the fluorescent tube. This flexibility allows you to position the fluorescent tube in close proximity to the animals, necessary when using ultraviolet “B” light bulbs (eg Repti Glo 5.0 and 10.0). It offers the versatility of being able to use the controller to mount tubes in any terrarium, regardless of its dimensions.
